Surprise for a snob

The Italian Oven satisfies children and soothes their fussy parents

Pastas and specialties come with a garden salad--a pre-chilled bowl of mixed greens. We ordered ours with a house concoction of ranch dressing mixed with pesto. Pretty good. Pizzas may be ordered "traditional" (with tomato sauce), or "fancy" (without tomato sauce). Either way, they have the same soft bread crust and, for an extra buck and a quarter, come with a salad.

For dessert, the kids got a scoop of vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. You can have cheesecake, ice cream, or tiramisu, but we didn't.

The (admirable) goal at The Italian Oven--again according to press materials--is to feed a family of four for under $30. In peace.
