Little Italy

San Remo, Plano's neighborhood Italian restaurant, is a nice place

Oddly, bananas foster and cherries jubilee were the featured desserts, neither Italian, both anachronistic, along with cheesecakes, which we could not bear to try.

Really, every neighborhood needs one good Mexican restaurant, one good Italian restaurant, one decent Chinese with take-out, and a deli. If you live in Plano, try San Remo, you'll like it fine.

But you Dallasites who read this and decide to drive to Plano for dinner, don't call me and tell me it wasn't worth it. It'll only prove you failed reading comprehension. You've got perfectly good Italian restaurants in your own neighborhood that need your support.

San Remo, 18352 Dallas Parkway at Frankford, 713-9559 and 713-9570. Open Monday-Thursday 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday 11 a.m-11 p.m. Saturday 5--11 p.m. Sunday 5--10 p.m.

San Remo:
Hot Homemade Bread $3

Artichoke Romano $6.
