Thank you Holly Mullen. Don't know why I am just seeing this article! I was the female that stepped on the scale in 96-97 that caused the Officials to walk out at St. Mark. I had earned my spot on the Varsitiy team and our Coach was told that if he put his Varsity 125lb. competitor on the scale, the officials would walk. I was one of the girls that competed in the exhibition match in 95-96. And the next year, the TIWA staged a female State tournament. I remember weighing-in in the dark because the sun had not even come up and the building did not have lights on. In 97-98, the State Tournament was huge and in 98-99 the UIL took over. Now, Sam Houston High School in Arlinton, Texas have 66 girls on their team! They have no room for practices and have to share the small weight room with the rest of the athletes and P.E. classes and metal weight equipment. I know this is many years later, but Thank You for your great articles!
