september 16
On September 16, 1821, Mexico gained its independence from Spain, and in celebration of this day, La Valentina de Mexico--Dallas' only authentic haute Mexican cuisine restaurant--will host a special dinner-dance featuring a four-course prix fixe dinner. The menu will include chiles en nogada, a dish created specially for Emperor Itusbide's celebration of the 1821 Mexican Independence Day. Strolling musicians and mariachi band Aguilas de America will entertain diners. Later that night, patrons can dance to the sounds of Vicho Vicenzo and the New Casino Band. The evening begins at 7 p.m. at La Valentina de Mexico, located at 14866 Montfort in Addison. The dinner is $45. Call (972) 726-0202.
