Nuevo Leon hits Oak Lawn
Slipping into the Oak Lawn space that was most recently an offshoot of the Oak Cliff Italian restaurant Vitto, Nuevo Leon owners Luis Ramirez and David Trevino will open their third location in mid-October, joining the "Mex-Mex" restaurant's outlets on Lower Greenville Avenue and in Farmers Branch. The Oak Lawn version will have the same menu and feature live music like the other locations, but will have a different interior. According to Vitto management, the restaurant closed some four weeks ago after being open for just a few months because of steep rent. Look for another Vitto to pop up in either DeSoto or Euless in the coming months.

The Mansion on Turtle Creek was the only Dallas spot to make the grade...The Fairmont recently announced a $25 million guest room remodeling that will include the Pyramid restaurant and expansion of the Pyramid bar...Texas Motor Speedway recently celebrated the topping-out of its 4,800-seat Speedway Club, a $30-million, nine-story venue on Turn 1 featuring 26,000 square feet of upscale dining, banquet and meeting space, and a health club. Set to open March 1999, the private club's three-tier restaurant will also include a casual dining area.
