Best-selling science-fiction author L.E. Modesitt Jr.'s novels have always been more complex than the average sci-fi tome, more like traditional stories set in unusual worlds rather than the green-men-with-guns works of some of his peers. But Modesitt--the father of eight children, a member of several congressional committees, and a consultant to several government agencies--has always been more complex than his peers as well. His newest book, Color of Chaos, is the latest in his Saga of Recluce series and follows the story of White Chaos wizard Cerryl's education in life and love, and his rise to power. On Wednesday, Modesitt will sign copies of Color of Chaos at Hasting's, 2305 Colorado in Denton, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Published:In last week's "Night & Day," the entry for January 14 incorrectly stated that the winning couple from each city's Blast from the Past Atomic Swing Thing dance contest would be flown to New York City for the premiere of the movie Blast from the Past. Instead, five couples will be chosen from across the country to attend the premiere, based on a point system.
