Dallas-Denton-Forth Worth bands make their biggest impact yet at SXSW

It's too soon to tell if any of those bands will get what they were looking for at SXSW, but we know at least a few people liked what they saw and heard. That's gotta count for something. Right? Maybe...

Really quick, A Superhero Named Tony, the fantastic Pixies cover band that features Angelique Congleton, Daron Beck of Pointy Shoe Factory, and members of the pAper chAse, will play its last Dallas gig on Thursday at Club Clearview. Why? Because Beck and Congleton are moving to Los Angeles, where the rest of Pointy Shoe Factory and Bilton Madley (Congleton's band) have already set up shop. Both bands are on The Clandestine Project's latest local music sampler, along with songs by Red Animal War, The Staggers, and Budapest One. Pretty sure Good Records has copies, if you want one. And you do...

And, if you haven't voted yet in the 2001 Dallas Observer Music Awards, get on it, yo. There are a ton of good bands nominated this year, and winners will be announced on April 17 at the Gypsy Tea Room, with a show featuring Baboon, The Toadies (playing a special set), The Telefones, The Deathray Davies, and Slobberbone. More details will be announced as the show approaches, but it will be a good time. You know it will. Yes, you do. Of course, even if you don't care about the show, that doesn't prevent you from voting. At least, we can't find that in our rulebook/wallet. Oh well.
