Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles. The Grapevine Vintage Railroad this Saturday will be pumping out enough bubbles to make Mr. Bubble proud. The railroad is scheduled to leave the Grapevine Cotton Belt Depot at 10 a.m. as the Hubba Hubba Bubble Train on its round trip to the Fort Worth Stockyards with bubbles galore at every crossing. The train is scheduled to be back at Grapevine at 4 p.m. "It may look like the Grapevine Vintage Railroad is floating down the tracks among all the bubbles," says Tom Wayne, railroad director. "At each crossing we'll encourage passengers to blow all the bubbles they can. It's going to be a great summertime memory maker...Everybody loves bubbles." Round-trip tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and $10 for children ages 3 to 12. Bubbles are included. Call 817-410-3185 or 1-800-457-6338. --Charles Siderius

Remember, as a youngster, gathering around your teacher for "story time with pictures"? While this midmorning delight was called simply "story time with pictures" for us, the action of using visuals to accompany narration is known as "Kamishibai" in Japanese. More eloquent, no? Anyway, the Skillman Southwestern Library is providing some Kamishibai on this eloquent culture of the East on Tuesday afternoon, with a well-rounded view of Japan promised. "Well-rounded" isn't "complete," mind you. Think origami and traditional dress not black rain and soiled schoolgirl panty dispensers. It's better this way, though; social underbellies were never great topics for "story time with pictures." Kids get cultured with help from KVIL
It's long been established that exposure to art at a young age broadens and enriches the imagination. So how do you bridge the gap between preschool finger-painting and the very grown-up exhibition of Renoir's depiction of subjects in Algeria? The Dallas Museum of Art and KVIL have teamed up to do just that with a program that's designed to show that the DMA is a "Cool Place for Kids." The radio station has on its Web site a coupon that entitles kids to a free Kids Pack, redeemable at the DMA from now till the end of August. The packs contain a toy, postcards, a coloring book and the DMA magazine and brochures. DJs from KVIL's Dixon & Miller Morning Show also appear June 28 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Call the museum at 214-922-1200. --David Wilson
