At the age of 31, Boris Avdeev lost his life on April 19, 2012 as a result of an avalanche in the High Sierra Mountains in California. He was buried in his hometown of Saint Petersburg, Russia.
After he graduated from UTA, he worked for a year at the Scotia Group in Dallas, then entered a PhD program at the University of Michigan, specializing in low temperature thermochronology and its application to tectonic evolution and had recently received his doctoral degree.
Boris was living life to its fullest - I invite everyone to google search "Boris Avdeev" on the internet and enjoy his adventures, captured in pictures and comments of his many friends.
