Some people are ugly. There's no way around it. Big noses, too-pale complexions, chins that bottom out at the sternum--God was cruel to these people. Beauty will elude them no matter their pursuit. Then there are the average-looking ones. These people, with the help of makeup, a good haircut and an affecting outfit, can become beautiful or something close to it. But more often than not, the average ones--and, let's face it, that's just about everybody--consistently fail to turn heads. Why? "It's pretty obvious," says Ziggy Ziegler, national spokesman for Toni & Guy hair salon. They don't know what they're doing. They think they know, but they don't know. They leave the salon with the great haircut, the makeup chair with the perfect face, and two days later neither can be replicated. But Ziegler wants to help. On May 29, he and Mia Butler, host of TBS' Movie & a Makeover, will appear at Valley View Center, off of Preston Road at Interstate 635 in Dallas. They'll make over willing participants for three hours, narrate a fashion show for one hour and--here's the kicker--tell everyone how to dress like this or do your hair like that. All the time. "The idea is to get hair, clothes and makeup working together for one key look," Ziegler says. Plus, between makeovers, Butler and Ziegler will do movie trivia. We always have this problem: It's Saturday afternoon, and we have way too much blood in our veins. Seriously, what are we supposed to do when we have, like, a pint, maybe a pint and a half, too much blood? We feel bloated, useless and overly strong. Thankfully, Carter Bloodcare and the Jewel P. Lightfoot Masonic Lodge No. 1283 have a solution--if only for this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. We can turn our dilemma around and lose a pint, feel benevolent and actually have a validated craving for sugar at the organizations' blood drive in the southwest corner of the Half Price Books parking lot at 5803 E.
