It's time to dig deep into the recesses of your brain for inspiration. No, not the quarterly report you filed last month. The 16-years-and-up competition pits teams of six against each other in tournament play, and the top three teams win cash prizes. Players can also watch the Grapevine Police Department engage in a blue-on-blue battle, which means you can probably speed on your way without getting pulled over. There are certain images that come to mind when thinking about Christmas: stockings, trees with all the trimmings, eggnog and carols. And, naturally, bikers--preferably the ones who wear leather and ride motorcycles so loud they call them hogs. Those guys, for some reason, just love the holidays. If you're one of them, or if you own a bike and you're just looking to ride it around in the name of fun and charity, then you should check out the Lewisville Christmas Motorcycle Toy Run and Food Drive. The run will be held Saturday, beginning at noon. Meet up at FM 1171/West Main Street and North Charles Street in Old Town Lewisville. Admission is a new, unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more and/or one nonperishable food item. Of course, you don't wish for bad things to happen. But any time any celebrity anywhere does anything he's not accustomed to doing and does it in a place in which the public can watch, the public--of course--watches. Something embarrassing might happen. Or, you know, God forbid, something worse, something that will make for a great conversation starter even 20 years from now. The 10th annual Celebrity Cutting at Will Rogers Coliseum takes place December 3, and some of the celebrities invited include former Dallas Cowboy Jay Novacek, actor Betty Buckley and country and western stars Tracy Bird and Clay Walker. What they'll do is get atop a horse, find a calf in a herd, separate the calf from the herd and then keep the calf separated by dexterous moves atop the horse.
