These days, entertainment is not just about the show anymore. With hundreds of cable channels and special feature-packed DVDs, we want more than a pretty face. No one cares as much about the finished product unless they're given an insider's view along the way. Sometimes the backstage flubs, behind-the-scenes footage and real-world antics are better (and more memorable) than the final presentation. Take the world of ice-skating. When I think of ice-skating, two things come to mind: Mickey Mouse's Ice Capades and crazy girls with blades. I couldn't tell you who has won Olympic medals in the past 10 years, but I do have fond memories of Oksana Baiul's drunk-driving performance. And nothing provided better made-for-TV movie fodder than the story of Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding. But sometimes enough is enough, and you want a little clean family fun. Leave it to the winning all-American duo of Scott Hamilton and Smucker's to help put a little faith back into the sport. This year's show is about the makings of the show itself. From the original idea to wacky rehearsals to opening night, audiences will get to witness what goes into creating a great performance. With a name like Smuckers Stars on Ice, it has to be good.
