Short attention spans gets a little lesbian action

In its eight-year history, Q Cinema has done a remarkable job of programming films for its gay and lesbian audience in Tarrant County. (It's worth the trip from Dallas.) The monthly screenings help keep the group viable throughout the whole year, while most film festivals just hold one big annual shindig. Lately, however, Q Cinema's programming has mostly catered to a male audience. The next installment of the festival should help remedy that: The Ultimate Lesbian Short Film Festival. The program features 10 short films over a whopping 98 minutes so even the shortest attention spans won't have much of a chance to get bored. Through comedy, drama, a thriller and even a two-minute musical, the shorts tell the usual angst-ridden tales of young tomboys and wacky butch gals dealing with their less-than-accepting families. But the freshest and most interesting of the bunch is Blow, an Australian short about a teenage girl who discovers that admitting she's a lesbian may be the only way to cure her sneezing fits.
