Eating alone can suck the pleasure right out of a meal for gourmands interested in sharing their culinary discoveries. So why not gather the like-minded together for an evening of shared gastronomic bliss? That's the idea behind the Single Gourmet tapas and wine-tasting dinner next Wednesday. Up to 40 singles in the 30- to 60-year-old age range will meet to share five courses of gourmet tastings paired with fine wines—such as tiger shrimp with mint basil salad and lemon mint sorbet paired with Font-Mars Picpoul de Pinet or a Spanish seafood paella served with a glass of Peirano Estate "The Other" White. It's a comfortable social setting for professionals looking to meet others who know the difference between a Pinot Meunier and a Pinot Gris and how to appreciate a truly fine meal. The Single Gourmet dinner is at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at Spike, 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane. Cost is $69 per person. Call 972-732-8000 or visit www.singlegourmetdfw.com.
