Fish Story

The Modern screens an eye-opening Nightmare

The Nile perch was first introduced to Africa's Lake Victoria in the 1960s, and it has since decimated the native fish population and spawned a large-scale fishing industry that earns millions annually. The Oscar-nominated documentary Darwin's Nightmare (coincidentally the title of my unreleased documentary on intelligent design) tells the story of the lake, the fish and the people who've struggled to adjust to life in its wake, a harsh reality of war and famine (many natives can't even afford to eat the fish they're paid to catch) where planes leave full of fresh fish and arrive laden with weapons used to kill untold thousands on a daily basis. See this bold and important film Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St. Call 1-866-824-5566 or visit themodern.org.
