Salvador Dalí hits the mall

College dorm room walls are like a Rorschach test—and the art is the key. Van Gogh's "Starry Night"? Creative, tortured type, into the Cure. Blue doves from Picasso? Boring and predictable, thinks Tom Cruise is a great actor. Dripping watches from Salvador Dalí? Quirky, brainy types with an eye for the bizarre, probably attending art exhibits on the weekends in hopes of seeing more. The master of surrealism has always attracted a devoted following; they'll be cheered next month by the Dalí show at the Martin Lawrence Gallery in the Dallas Galleria. The exhibition centerpiece is 15 woodblock-engraving prints from the artist's "Divine Comedy" series, based on Dante's morality book of the same title. They've also got an original portfolio of lithographs with a rare bas-relief sculpture on the cover and an original pencil sketch. Even the people who had Warhol soup cans on their dorm room walls will appreciate the work. The exhibition runs through the month of March at the Martin Lawrence Gallery, 13550 Dallas Parkway. Admission is free, and hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. Call 972-716-5335.
Mondays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-9 p.m.; Sundays, 12-6 p.m. Starts: March 1. Continues through March 31
