I was so miffed that I couldn't write about Oscar-watching parties, I had to take the closest thing to satisfy my penchant for cinematic blurbs. And thus I was presented with Simply Streisand. A film festival? Oy! I hoped not. But rather, a concert presented by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra with Marvin Hamlisch at the helm. However, Mrs. James Brolin won't be there. Instead of having to hear about her paralyzing stage fright, we'll see vocalist Julie Budd take the reins to sing "Evergreen" and other Barbra classics. Performances are Friday through Sunday at the Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora St. Call 214-692-0203 or visit dallassymphony.com.
