Soaring Harmony

The lyrics may not be in English, but the 26-member Soweto Gospel Choir can carry you away. The Atlanta Journal Constitution likens the choir to the sound of "a pipe organ roaring to life." Formed of singers from South African churches, the choir's patron saint is Desmond Tutu, and the money they have raised has gone to found an AIDS orphanage and buy food and blankets for other organizations that help the poor. The debut performance 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bass Hall, Fourth and Calhoun streets in Fort Worth, will benefit the Scholarship Fund of the Renaissance Cultural Center in Fort Worth. Tickets are $17.50 to $75.00. Call 1-877-212-4280 or visit basshall.com.
Tue., March 14, 8 p.m.
