Being that my father is a chef and my sister and her husband are caterers, I've had the privilege of being exposed to some really good food throughout the years. Unfortunately, it shows—imagine the desperation on my face during frantic workouts at the gym. But I guess that's another story. Coming from such a culinary clan, food plays a heavy role (pun intended) in my happiness. And I'm happiest when a plate of heaping pasta with exotic sauce and other accoutrements is welcomed by my outstretched arms amidst a chorus of angels. Now imagine my delight at a showcase of Italian cuisine, with local restaurants and chefs showing off their dishes. Addison hosts the gourmet-palooza From Texas to Tuscany, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Addison Conference and Theatre Center, 15650 Addison Road. Tickets ($40 to $45) are available by calling 512-389-0315 or visiting frontgatetickets.com.
