Blue, New and Borrowed

More than 100 blue jean jackets will be made over with a new look from the borrowed talents of big-name and local designers. The Dallas Chapter of Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS is holding Celebration: Live, Laugh, Love, an annual fund-raiser. J.C. Penney donated the Arizona denim jackets. Now they are at the creative mercy of Kenneth Cole and Michael Simon, among others—including many of Dallas' own glitterati—to create the ultimate Dallas Jacket Collection. A jacket worthy of the modifier "Dallas" must be big and gaudy, complete with sequins, beads and feathers. Well, that's exactly what you're gonna get. David Nelson, DIFFA's event chairman, promises "hot trendy fashion, tons of energy in a big fun show with lots of surprises." The event includes dinner, a runway show and silent and live auctions, not to mention a special performance by Erykah Badu. Since 1988, DIFFA Dallas has donated $2 million to North Texas AIDS service organizations and is involved in HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness. The fund-raiser is Saturday at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. Individual and table tickets are available. Call 214-748-8580 or visit diffadallas.org.
