Marchin' On

Celebrate World Theatre Day with a parade

We've never heard of World Theatre Day, but if we had to come up with a parade commemorating a "holiday," we couldn't do any better than the upcoming Masked March on Main. Featuring a G-rated, if creepy, blend of masked performers, puppets and children, the Masked March is a part of a bevy of international events organized to celebrate theater, or as Nathan Lane calls it, Saturday. As you might expect, a bevy of local arts organizations are scheduled to take part in the parade, including the USA Chin Woo Lion, the Butterfly Connection and—your favorite and mine, for the record—the Kumaasi African Ensemble. (Personally, I like their old stuff the best, but that's just me.) The parade is open to anyone who would like to join; just bring a mask and a costume and check in at 3200 Main St. The Masked March on Main begins at 11 a.m. Saturday on Main Street in Deep Ellum between Murray and Crowdus streets. Call at 214-747-1424.
Sat., March 25, 11 a.m.
