Eat Your Words

No, really, they’re edible

You know what would really stimulate my tastebuds? Getting a little edible sample of Robert Langdon, the dashing hero of Dan Brown's The DaVinci Code. I bet he tastes like intellectual candy with a hint of suspenseful twang, coupled with a dash of airport-stand deliciousness. Hey, don't look at me like that! The University of North Texas knows what I mean; they sponsor an annual Edible Book Festival, where entrants are encouraged to create edible versions of books—like Moby Dick made out of wedding cake—for the event. So, yeah, no bite-size nibbles of pulp novel heroes, but whatever. The festival is Monday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the rare book room at the Willis Library at Hillcrest Street and Avenue C in Denton. Tickets are $2 for food entrants and $5 otherwise. Call 940-565-2769.
Mon., April 3, 2-4 p.m.
