Modern Whirls

Back in our first modern dance class, we were instructed to pick a season and be a tree experiencing the weather of our chosen season. Just like that girl in A Chorus Line, we felt nothing like a tree and were less than convincing. Every class, the same exercise. Every time, we sucked—ballet was too ingrained in our limbs, and we just couldn't loosen up. Until the last week of class. Summer, loading dock door open, no A/C, no breeze. Our tree wilted beautifully...into our first heatstroke. We may have failed miserably, but modern dancers still celebrate the seasons. Contemporary Dance/Fort Worth presents Whirls Gone Wild, a celebration of springtime featuring guest performers phoenixdancetheatre and Fort Worth choreographer Lacreacia Sanders. The two shows (8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Orchestra Hall, 4401 Trail Lake Drive in Fort Worth) just might be so good that you faint. Tickets are $15. Visit cdfw.org.
March 31-April 1, 8 p.m.
