I tend to stay away from artist receptions. I went to one once, enjoyed the free drinks and canapés and even pretended to like the art while I was at it. I don't think I'm being a snob about it—there were already too many at the event I went to. And I really like art, even the modern stuff. It may just be my self-absorbed, media-hungry personality at play, but I keep hoping for Kenny Goss to invite me to one of his receptions so I can be in every picture with George Michael for PaperCity. In the meantime, I'll consider the possibility of Eye Candy, an artist reception, with artist Steve Lawrence, and benefit 6 p.m. Wednesday at Zubar, 2012 Greenville Ave. Door donations and a percentage of the sales go to KW Cares, a nonprofit geared toward helping those in hardship.
