During Stephen Colbert's incredible White House Correspondents Dinner speech on April 29, he took a break from attacking the current administration to poke fun at Jesse Jackson...in the form of an anti-Bush barb. After comparing a Jackson conversation to "boxing a glacier," he said, "Enjoy that metaphor...because your grandchildren will have no idea what a glacier is." Indeed, the most gorgeous arctic zones on earth are facing well-publicized uncertainty these days, making a photography exhibit such as The Place Where Life Begins: Endangered Landscapes of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge all the more relevant. The exhibit, which opens Saturday at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, 1501 Montgomery St., and runs through September 4, shows huge expanses of arctic terrain thanks to large-format camera shots—thus making your pollutant guilt trip that much bigger.
