A rivalry, fueled by address and ancestry, was born.
From the same family tree, the teams won almost the same number of games this season (Spurs 63, Mavs 60). And in Game 1 last weekend--other than the dominant Duncan in the middle--they were mirror images.
Alas, the copy is never as good as the original, and the Spurs will prevail in seven games because of a glaring difference between basketball teams and basketball towns--San Antonio boasts 126 playoff wins and three championships; Dallas, 50 and zilch.
But sit back, enjoy the series and realize we're blessed with one of those rare win-win scenarios where the survivor will be either our present or our past.
