Batter Out

Think of it as a cross between a certain movie about gay cowboys and an extraordinarily talented baseball player. Brokeback Natural, perhaps. Take Me Out is the Tony Award-winning play about star slugger Darren Lemming who has a different version of "making it to third base" than most of his teammates. When Lemming comes out of the closet, he shocks his teammates and fans, who prefer that their stars not know what exactly goes with pleated denim shorts. Take Me Outis billed as a funny play (it's also a cool Franz Ferdinand song) that takes a swing at homophobia, racism, baseball and friendship; kind of like a chick flick without the chicks. It runs Thursday through June 18 (7:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays) at the Addison Theatre Centre, 15650 Addison Road. Tickets are $20 to $30.
