Indiana Jones Forever

Harrison Ford whips the Inwood

When Steven Spielberg's Raiders of the Lost Ark came out in 1981, Harrison Ford was already a star, thanks to the first two installments of Star Wars. But the role of Indiana Jones made Ford an action movie icon. Perfectly cast as the whip-lashing archaeologist with brains and balls, Ford tumbled and shot his way through two sequels, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). Now in pre-production, the fourth Indiana Jones saga is scheduled for release in 2007. Ford, 53, has been kept hanging while M. Night Shyamalan and Tom Stoppard have done re-writing on the Frank Darabont script, which has been dubbed at various times Indiana Jones and the Opal of the Merman Prince (are they kidding!?) and Indiana Jones and the Lost Continent (better). Spielberg plans to shoot it like the old days, with stuntmen—not CGI. According to IMDB, the plot brings back Sean Connery as Indy's father and introduces his brother. Rumored to be in the running to play his sibling: Kevin Costner. Yikes. See the original Raiders of the Lost Ark on a big screen midnight Friday and Saturday. Admission is $8 at the Inwood Theatre, 5458 W. Lovers Lane. Call 214-764-9106 or visit landmarktheatres.com.
