Artists' Intuition

Anyone with a Dallas County Community College education probably knows that Picasso, Van Gogh and Michelangelo were some of the greatest artists of all time. You might even know that crazy bastard Van Gogh cut off his own ear. But what do you know about Ramos Prida, Manuel Reyna and Alan "Zion" Johnson? Thanks to a crumbling public education system and lack of national artistic fervor, probably nothing. But don't fret, you still have a chance to learn about these world-renowned artists while their art is on display at The Pan-American Art Gallery, 3303 Lee Parkway, during its new, and more important free, exhibition titled Intuitive beginning Friday. And though none of these artists have mutilated their bodies in some mad fit of creative indignation, each one is famous for personal dedication to their culture, so they've got that going for them. Intuitive begins with a reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and runs through July 29. Call 214-522-3303 or visit panamericanart.com.
Tuesdays-Fridays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturdays, 12-6 p.m. Starts: June 30. Continues through July 29
