Heavenly Seven

Metoyer brings mysticism to the AAM

The number seven has long been representative of perfection and godliness. Whether it's Proverbs 9:1 ("Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn her seven pillars.") or the Pixies' "Monkey Gone to Heaven," ("...then God is seven") evidence of seven's numerological purity is well-documented. Angelbert Metoyer was born on the seventh day of the seventh month in 1977. Whether this is pure coincidence or divine alignment, there's no denying Metoyer's gift for fusing astronomy, pop art and spiritualism into compelling cosmic graffiti. The African-American Museum presents The Mystical Art of Angelbert Metoyer through September 3, noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Individual admission is free. Call 214-219-2049 for group booking.
Tuesdays-Fridays, 12-5 p.m.; Fri., June 30, 1-5 p.m.; Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Starts: June 29. Continues through Sept. 3
