Orange You Glad

Eric Tosten goes bananas at Mighty Fine Arts

Iowa native Eric Tosten has been carving out his place in the Dallas art scene with fluid plastic and acrylic shapes that bend and swirl against medium-density fiberboard and paper like magnified blood samples from one of Keith Haring's stick figures. Tosten's more recent pieces seem to shed some of the more overt pop sensibilities and blobby structures while retaining the same bold colors and complementary spacing, focusing less on playful form and more on rigid pixilation. Mighty Fine Arts presents New Orange at its Oak Cliff gallery, 407 N. Tyler St. The show opens this Saturday with an artist reception from 6 p.m to 9 p.m. and runs until August 6. Gallery hours are noon to 5 p.m Saturdays and Sundays. Call 214-942-5241 or visit mfagallery.com.
Saturdays, Sundays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: July 1. Continues through Aug. 6
