Paste-Up

In kindergarten, it never occurred to many of us tykes that in between lying on fold-out mats and playing with four-square balls, we could find our artistic voice. Many of us were more concerned with the taste of Elmer's than with what we were applying with it. Evita Tezeno, however, a Port Arthur native, found her calling in collage, applying Cubist techniques to her brightly colored, rhythmic works. The Black Academy of Arts and Letters' James E. Kemp Gallery features Rhythms, Reflections, Relations: The Works of Evita Tezeno through August 26. TBAAL is located in the Dallas Convention Center Theatre Complex, Canton and Akard streets. Call 214-743-2440 or visit tbaal.org.
Tuesdays-Fridays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturdays, 12-4 p.m. Starts: July 6. Continues through Aug. 26
