Down South

The Ice House features art beyond the Trinity

An artist can find a lot of inspiration by crossing the Trinity River and heading south. First there's Oak Cliff. Then there's Carl's Corner, the Czech Stop, the Brazos and Austin. Go further and you'll find the cool, clear springs of New Braunfels and San Marcos, the Alamo and eventually, Mexico. (That's about as far as I've made it, but you get the idea...) So what exactly inspired the artists of Sur del Trinidad/South of the Trinity? See for yourself when the juried exhibition kicks off this Saturday at the Ice House Cultural Center, 1004 W. Page St. in Oak Cliff. Call 214-670-7524.
Saturdays, 1-6 p.m.; Tuesdays-Fridays, 3-6 p.m. Starts: July 22. Continues through Aug. 26
