The beloved Broadway show graces the Eisemann stage

There are plenty of reasons to see CATS. It's a well-known and loved musical, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, based on poems by T. S. Eliot. It holds the record as the longest-running Broadway show in history, has toured the world, been translated into 20 languages and enjoyed timeless popularity, despite never being critically acclaimed. But the real reason to go is just to hear the ridiculous characters' names. From the Magical Mister Mistoffelees to The Rum Tum Tugger, the best part about this show is the "cats" themselves, boasting names even more outrageous than their makeup. Who wants to hear "Memories" sung by a cat named Fluffy or Boots? No one. Wouldn't you rather spend an evening with Grizabella, Skimbleshanks, Rumpleteaser, Lady Griddlebone, Bustopher Jones, Old Deuteronomy, Jennyanydots, Macavity and Etcetera? Yes you would. See you at the Jellicle Ball, freak. See CATS at 7:30 p.m. weekends (and 2 p.m. on Sundays) July 21 to 30 at the Courtyard Theater in Plano, 15th Street at Avenue H. Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for children, with group rates available. Bring a live cat to receive a discount at the door. You won't get one, but wouldn't it be funny to try? Call 972-690-5029 or visit rctheatre.com.
Fridays, Saturdays, 7:30 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: July 21. Continues through July 30
