Grab free pens and pencils at Kids Fest

It's already time for another dreaded school supply shopping spree. Your kids will beg for crap like a One Tree Hill binder and lunchbox kit, and your stomach will turn when you wonder how you'll afford so many supplies. Luckily, this year's Kids Fest helps underprivileged kids and parents with the upcoming school year. Kiosks with puppets and clown shows will distract the young'uns, while parents will benefit from donated school supplies thanks to Dallas' MEED Center. The fest runs from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday at Phuong Market, 4319 Bryan St. Entry is free. Call 214-370-4760.
Thu., July 27, 9 a.m.-noon
