Sharp-Dressed Man

See the Invisible at CATS

The Creative Arts Theatre & School is warming up a chestnut with The Emperor's Invisible Clothes, a lighthearted take on the Hans Christian Andersen tale of an emperor conned by swindlers into buying a nonexistent suit of clothes that are "invisible" only to the stupid. It's a nice cautionary tale about the price of vanity but perhaps a little outdated. How about a new version, in which the child who announces that the emperor is naked is vilified by the Imperial News Network, accused of treason and called a godless coward by the Wicked Witch Ann, an emaciated blond harpy? Oh, wait. This is supposed to be a children's story, not Nightline. The Emperor's Invisible Clothes opens at 10 a.m. Tuesday and continues through August 3. CATS is located at 1100 W. Randol Mill Road, Arlington. Call 817-861-2287 or visit creativearts.org for tickets and info.
Aug. 1-2, 10 a.m. & 1 p.m.; Thu., Aug. 3, 10 a.m., 1 & 7 p.m.
