Eat It

If food was a drug, you know you'd be a junkie fighting your way out of rehab. Even if it wasn't necessary for daily survival, you'd eat all of the time because you love food in all of its wonderful incarnations. To you, fast food is for those kids on the street who just don't know any better—you're more the fine dining type at heart, even if you don't always have the wallet for it. Well, KRLD and Central Market are giving you a chance to eat to your heart's content (relatively) cheaply and give back to the community at the same time. More than 100 restaurants in the metroplex are offering special three-course prix fixe menus as part of KRLD's annual Restaurant Week. Dallas is known to have more restaurants per capita than New York City, and some of the finest have put their best menus forward for this event. "Like who?" you ask. How about The Mansion, Dragonfly at Hotel ZaZa, Nobu and some of the best steak houses in town (Al Biernat's, Del Frisco and Dakota's) to name just a few. New to this year's event: By making a purchase at Central Market before Sunday (something you were planning on doing anyway), you'll receive a certificate good for a fourth course at participating restaurants. Reservations are required and limited at each restaurant. Meal prices are $35 per person ($7 of which will go to the North Texas Food Bank or the Lena Pope Home), and do not include tax, tip or drinks. KRLD Restaurant Week runs Monday through August 20.
