Fellini's Fort Worth

The director is doubly honored

Any kid who took Film 101 thinking they could sleep through feature films for an easy A knew they were done for when they hit Eisenstein, Bergman, Kurosawa and Fellini. These directors created meaty, inspired (and inspiring) films—dramatic and sometimes bizarre, but not entirely lacking humor. With help from the Italian Consul, Istituto di Cultura and others, the Modern Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St., and its film program Magnolia at the Modern honors one of the greats, Federico Fellini, with Tutto Fellini, a series of the director's works—The Nights of Cabiria, Il bidone (The Swindle), La dolce vita and others—peppered with introductions and discussions Friday through September 3. Call 1-866-824-5566 or visit themodern.org for showtimes and details. As an added bonus, and in conjunction with the film screenings, the Fort Worth Community Arts Center, 1300 Gendy St., hosts Tutto Felliniana, an exhibition of rare international film posters relating to the director from the Don Young Felliniana Archive. Call 817-738-1938.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: Aug. 18. Continues through Sept. 3
