Jeff Abbott signs his new release

When reading materials on Jeff Abbott's new thriller Fear we couldn't help but think of My Blue Heaven, the moderately unsuccessful Steve Martin and Rick Moranis comedy. Try out these parallels: the mob, witness protection program, post-traumatic stress disorder, drug scandals. OK, maybe not so much on those last two, but if there's one sharkskin suit or baseball field mentioned, we'll know what really inspired the Texas novelist. Or, we could probably just ask him. Abbott signs copies of Fear 7 p.m. Wednesday at Barnes & Noble, 616 Preston Royal Shopping Center. Call 214-363-0924.
Wed., Aug. 30, 7 p.m.
