Chances are you know way more about Johnny Mathis than I do. He always seems to be featured on those song collections you see commercials for in the middle of the night—just $14.99 plus shipping and handling and you can get your hands on some great tunes from the golden era of adult contemporary and romantic ballads. Unfortunately I've never picked one up. I'm more of a power ballads girl myself, and Mathis just doesn't fit the bill. I could tell you lots of interesting little trivia that I've picked up along the way, like the fact that he was the first recording artist to release a "Greatest Hits" (in 1958) and that the 490 weeks the collection spent on the Billboard Top Albums chart got him into The Guinness Book of World Records. But you already knew that, didn't you? I'm sure you're also familiar with his Christmas album (or eight, but who's counting?), where he's all snazzed up for the ski slopes. Sorry, never heard that one either. So then why am I the one telling you about this event? I got confused. I thought I was going to write about Ronnie Milsap—my bad. For those of you who do know and love this classic crooner, you're in for a special treat, as Johnny Mathis brings his 50th Anniversary Voice of Romance Tour to Dallas.
