Snakes on a Grape

Only the vines have not yet turned into stone, surviving 100 years of dry-farming and hand-picking in the California soil. Several private, small-lot Zinfandel vineyards now yield their magic for Lydia Mondavi and Patricia Hoffman's Medusa Wines.
