Or, How I Fixed My Engine for $2.50

To see a movie at the theater, you pay at least five bucks—and that's assuming they take that old, busted student I.D. of yours that says "SRS 99!" on it. Then, after the movie, you're like, "Damn. I can't believe I just paid five bucks to see Magic Ed Norton and Jessica Biel's accent suck that bad." Well, Hip Pocket Theatre (1950 Silver Creek Road in Fort Worth) hears you. They see your empty-pocket pain and raise you live-action alien puppets. For a mere $2.50 per person on opening night, come see the world premiere of How I Fixed My Engine With Rose Water, a play inspired by Antoine de Saint-Exupery's The Little Prince. This adaptation of the children's tale was created by its performers: Brendan McMahon, Lake Simons (written up in The New York Times, Village Voice and American Theatre Magazine for her puppet talents), John Dyer, Erin Orr and Rima Fand. And it promises to be way better than Lady in the Water. The show begins at 8:15 p.m. Thursdays through Sundays till September 24, with music and munchies available in The Backyard at 6:30 p.m. Regular adult admission is $15 ($10 for seniors, teachers, students and military). Call 817-246-9775 or visit hippocket.org.
Thursdays-Sundays, 8:15 p.m. Starts: Sept. 14. Continues through Sept. 24
