In Balance

What with the carnage in Iraq, Hugo Chavez declaring President Bush the devil and drug thugs rolling severed heads onto dance floors in Mexico, harmony seems to be in short supply these days. Leave it to artists—in this case, dancers—to provide whatever may be missing in the world. The Bruce Wood Dance Company will open its 11th season with Harmony at the Bass Performance Hall, 4th and Calhoun Streets in Fort Worth, at 7:30 p.m. Monday. Kicking off the performance is Lay Your Burdens Down, a dance set to the music of Vladimir Martynov, followed by Piazzolla de Prisa, arranged to the tango music of Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla. Last is Liturgy, set to Bach's "Mass in B Minor" as a tribute to Rudy Eastman, the late director of Jubilee Theater. Season tickets and individual tickets, from $23 to $68, are available through the Bass Performance Hall box office. Call 817-212-4280.
Mon., Oct. 9, 7:30 p.m.
