Laugh Factor

Charlie Murphy visits Nokia

Just to name a few, there's Spike Lee's Original Kings of Comedy (not to be confused with Paul Rodriguez's Original Latin Kings of Comedy), Jeff Foxworthy's Blue Collar Comedy, Patton Oswalt's Comedians of Comedy and, of course, Professor Hendricus Stoof's wildly popular Dutch Physicists of Comedy. Now there's finally a stand-up comedy showcase targeted toward a consumer demographic that has been blatantly ignored for far too long: males between the ages of 18 and 35. And who better to bring you the musky goodness of The Real Men of Comedy Tour than Maxim magazine and Bud Lite? Joe Rogan may make his big bucks forcing Fear Factor contestants to consume an assortment of animal genitalia, but his first love is stand-up, and onstage he's much funnier than his prime-time persona would otherwise indicate. Rogan will share said stage with the man responsible for comedy's greatest catchphrase since "Whatchoo talkin' 'bout, Willis?", Charlie Murphy, who will delight the audience to no end by simply saying "I'm Rick James, bitch" once; after that he'll just stand there for an hour while everyone pisses themselves silly. The real men of The Real Men of Comedy Tour mark their territory in an ever-so-alpha male fashion at the Nokia Theatre, 1001 Performance Place in Grand Prairie, at 8 p.m. Thursday. Tickets are $35 to $45. Call 214-373-8000 or visit ticketmaster.com.
Thu., Oct. 5, 8 p.m.
