I recently rented the movie Cabaret and, of course, Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey again knocked my socks off. It's the part Minnelli was born to play. But I'd forgotten what a fascinating story wrapped around the music. Set in Germany just before the rise of Hitler and the Nazi party, a young American writer finds himself distracted and tempted by love at the decadent Kit Kat Club. The Plano Repertory Company Theatre presents a new twist on the Cabaret experience: Lucky audience members can sit on the stage as guests at the Kit Kat Club; first come, first serve. Willkommen, come hear the music play. Cabaret plays Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through November 3 at the Courtyard Theatre, 1520 H Ave. in Plano. Tickets are $18 to $20. Call 972-690-5029.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 19. Continues through Nov. 3
