Under My Umbrella

See Bus Stop in Fort Worht

William Inge's classic play Bus Stop was a hit even before Marilyn Monroe starred as Cheriea world-weary "chanteuse"in the 1956 movie version. Even without Monroe's glamour, it's still easy to see why audiences found Bus Stop so charming. Four passengers and the bus driver are stranded at a remote diner in the middle of a raging snowstorm and go at each other. As the love object of a rough but innocent cowboy, Cherie must decide how she feels about moving with him to Montana as other relationships form around them. There's an alcoholic professor who spouts Shakespeare, a rigid sheriff, a gruff bus driver and a good-hearted waitress. A lot happens in one night, but will these lonely characters really find true love in three acts? Theatre TCU stages the show, featuring three TCU students in the cast. Catch Bus Stop at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (through December 2) at the Circle Theatre, 230 W. Fourth St. in Fort Worth. Tickets for regular performances are $18 to $28, or $30 for Friday's champagne opening. Call 817-877-3040.
Thursdays, 7:30 p.m.; Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 3 & 8 p.m.; Thu., Nov. 30, 7:30 p.m. Starts: Nov. 2. Continues through Dec. 2
