More About

If, like me, you have an inexplicable obsession with the colorful and kitschy calaveras of Mexico (you know, the skeleton brides and grooms, the busloads of skeleton passengers and such), you’re in for a treat: Day of the Dead: Migrations in Life will be on display at the Ice House Cultural Center through November 18. The exhibition incorporates traditional Day of the Dead themes, as well as contemporary issues of loss and absence. The visual art exhibit includes a series of personal altars by members of the community honoring people who have died, as well as paintings, photographs, ceramics and mixed media by local artists. The cultural center is located at 1004 W. Page St. Hours are 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays. Call 214-670-7524.
Nov. 1-18
