Charity Showdown

Race around the world in West End

Watching crazed couples and bickering brothers navigate their way around the world to reach their destination first is one of the true pleasures of reality television. Had a honeymoon from hell? Couldn't be worse than getting spit on by camels in the Sahara Desert. Endured a family vacation with three children under age 10 and your in-laws at a dude ranch? Try being plopped down with your girly-girl sister in the jungle and watch as she tries to cope without a curling iron. And don't even start about waking up to find yourself in Mongolia with only an ATM card. If you've imagined signing up you and your spouse for the TV show, here's a chance to prove your mettle. The Dallas Child Advocacy Center is promising a "Mission Impossible" event for their annual fundraiser. A six-member team will find themselves transported "all over the world" for a hunt within the Dallas World Aquarium to try their hand at an assortment of activities. One task may involve solving a brain-teasing riddle; the next stop may require you to build an object. Tickets are $250 per person. The "Mission" begins 7 p.m. Saturday at the Dallas World Aquarium, 1801 N. Griffin St. Call 214-818-2650 or visit dcac.org.
Sat., Nov. 18, 7 p.m.
