Winter Wonderland

It's been awhile since you've found yourself surrounded by tons of "ice" and hundreds of strangers milling around in oversized parkas, hasn't it? You know you want to relive those days of fun again, and we have just what the doctor ordered. Get your head out of the gutter; we're not talking about a Saturday night of clubbing—this is much better. Thanks to the fine folks up north, we have a new way to enjoy all things cool and white. Free of the ear-bleeding beats and impending rehab of the club/drug circuit, you can enjoy a new type of snow and ice that's fun and safe for the whole family (provided you avoid frostbite) at Gaylord Texan ICE! With more than 2 million pounds of ice, including crystal and colored ice, hand-carved by artisans from Harbin, China, we have our very own winter wonderland just down the street. At a toe-numbing 9 degrees, you can don a winter coat (provided by the resort) and go for a slide, regardless of the fickle Texas weather outside. ICE! and the Lone Star Christmas celebration will be blowing through town from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily through January 6 at Gaylord Texan, 1501 Gaylord Trail in Grapevine. Tickets are $10 to $23.
