DCT brings in the season

Christmas doesn't come in a box; it doesn't come from a store. Christmas isn't about dressing up your doghouse with lights. Or maybe Yuletide is about getting that Red Ryder BB gun. Whatever. From Thanksgiving to December 25 we'll be fed several stockings full of "the true meaning of Christmas," because, let's face it, about a month of hope, epiphanies and rooting for the little guy is all we can stand. Dallas Children's Theater offers up its recipe for "true meaning" Friday through December 17 with The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, a comedic favorite about a troupe of unruly young hellions who hijack a church Christmas pageant. Haven't seen it—though this is the 14th year the DCT is producing the play based on Barbara Robinson's book—but I suspect it'll end with someone or something being redeemed, some troublesome sort turning out to be good at heart, etc. The cast includes real-life siblings, parents and children from seven different families—and probably not an unredeemable bastard in the lot. Tickets are $18 for adults, $16 for children. Shows are 7:30 p.m. Fridays, 1:30 p.m. Saturdays and 1:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Sundays at El Centro College Performance Hall, 801 N. Main St. Call 214-740-0051.
Fridays, 7:30 p.m.; Saturdays, 1:30 p.m.; Sundays, 1:30 & 4:30 p.m. Starts: Dec. 1. Continues through Dec. 17
